IGP sets up new police unit, orders medical examination of officers of defunct SARS

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammed Adamu has set up a new unit to replace the disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).

The formation of the unit came 48 hours after the IGP dissolved SARS following Nationwide protest by Nigerians over allegations of human rights violations by the unit.

A statement by the Force Spokesman, Frank MBA said the IGP has ordered the personnel of the disbanded SARS to report at Force Headquarters in Abuja for debriefing, psychological and medical examination
