A group of dissatisfied members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has formed the Third Force in the state’ s political equation.
Senatorial chairman, ward chairmen, local government chairmen, women leaders, youth leaders, and APC party stalwarts from across all 16 local government areas in Ilorin on Saturday were among the unhappy APC members who accused the state governor and his loyalists in the party of alleged disenfranchisement in the recent membership registration and revalidation exercise.
” It is impossible to achieve the developmental goals we are aiming for Kwarans amid the chaotic situation we found ourselves in Kwara APC, ” Mallam Abdulfatai Abdulrahman, the former state APC senatorial chairman for Kwara Central, said on behalf of the decampees, adding that the new party will be unveiled in due course as soon as possible.
People who tore up their APC membership cards and set fire to the party’ s broom emblem said that the conspiracy to marginalize them was all about 2023 political possibilities.
” As you are all aware, the Kwara APC has been engulfed in one problem or another virtually since the party’ s primary, extending throughout the campaign season and continuing to this day.
” The problem reached a pinnacle with the recently completed APC membership revalidation and registration procedure in the state, which was marred by intentional strategies and grand orchestration to deregister and disenfranchise chosen party members.
” A political party’ s success is determined by its popularity, intra- party cohesiveness, honesty, and true dedication to serving the people. All of these are visibly dwindling in Kwara APC at the moment.
” A 2023 permutation agenda is a big plan that denies the bulk of party members the chance to register and revalidate their membership across the state. We’ ll never be able to cross our fingers and sit on the sidelines and watch the game.
” The intentional inactivity to solve the ongoing problem in the APC in Kwara has become clear to all discerning minds that the plan to deregister and refuse to revalidate thousands of members throughout the state was a big scheme backed by the party’ s National Caretaker Committee.
” We, representing hundreds of thousands of disenfranchised card- carrying members of the All Progressives Congress, including state exco, local government party chairmen, local government women leaders, youth leaders, ward chairmen, and APC party stalwarts across the sixteen local government areas in the state, hereby denounce APC and form a KWARA THIRD FORCE.
” As a result, we urge all well- intentioned Kwarans to avoid violence, needless agitation, and desperation to be a part of a party that has abandoned the majority of its people.
” Instead, WE call on all disgruntled APC members to have the fortitude to say NO to dictatorship and join us in reshaping Kwara State’ s political future, ” he added.
Mallam Abdulrahman further stated that the new political party would be announced as soon as feasible.
