The Organised Labour in Nasarawa state has announced the suspension of an industrial action declared over the partial implementation of the minimum wage and non-release of promotion of workers for over 12 years.
Chairman of the Nasarawa state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Union Comrade Yusuf Sarki Iya announced the suspension at a press conference in Lafia, the state capital.
Iya explained that the decision to suspend the strike was the result of an agreement with the state government to work out modalities for the implementation of promotion and minimum wage.
He called on civil servants in the state to resume work immediately.
“The strike action is hereby, suspended and we call on all workers to go back to work effect from today Monday June 5, 2021,” he said.
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state appreciated the labour leaders for their understanding and maturity throughout the strike period.
Sule also thanked the Royal fathers especially the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage rtd, for their role, saying that his administration means well for the people of the state.
