The new Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Idrisu Dauda Dabban has applauded the Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr Salisu O. Usman, for his proactive security initiatives and arrangements on the campus.
The Commissioner of Police made the remarks during a courtesy and familiarisation visit to the Rector at the Lokoja campus of the Polytechnic on Tuesday, 7th September, 2021.
CP Dauda Dabban, who is the 35th Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, however stressed the need for more proactive measures in addressing security issues on campuses, and charged the management of the institution to build on successes recorded so far.
He thanked the Rector for identifying with the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in combating insecurities, cultism and social unrest on campus, just as he assured them of the Force’s maximum support to ensure peace in and around the campuses.
On his part, the Rector appreciated the new CP for the visit and promised to sustain the onslaught against social vices on the campus in collaboration with the relevant security agencies that have been his pillar of support since he assumed office.
The Rector used the opportunity to thank the gallant and mutually rewarding support the Polytechnic enjoyed throughout the tenure of the immediate past Commissioner of Police AIG Ayuba Ede and pleaded with the new CP to extend similar 48 hours all round support so as to consolidate the recorded successes.
The Rector also poured encomium on the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for the massive support in the areas of security and other strategic needs.
In a similar development, the Rector received the newly posted Divisional Officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Felele Division, CSC Aletan Olalekan Joel in his office on same day.
The Rector also stressed the need for strengthening the collaboration which he said is imperative for the sustainability of the tremendous success recorded in maintaining peace and order in the Polytechnic in recent times.
He added that the management of Kogi State Polytechnic would not relent in its efforts in upgrading infrastructures, boosting ICT capacity and ensuring maximum security of lives and properties on campuses, just as he thanked the law enforcement officers for the visits which he believed would be strengthened for more successes.
On his part, the Divisional Officer of NSCDC at Felele Division, CSC Olalekan Joel commended the Rector and the Polytechnic management for their tremendous efforts in nipping unrests on campus in the bud just as he promised the Corps’ continued support to the institution which is part of the Corps’ core mandate.
The Divisional Officer was joined by the Senior Assistant of Corps, Allen Amana and Omatola Monica who is the Inspector of Corps.
On the entourage of the Commissioner of Police were the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigation, Mr Gbiwen Francis; Mr John Agwoye who is the Assistant Commissioner in charge of Administration; CSP Egbo Kenneth who is the D.P.O of Felele Division; DSP William Ovye Aya, the Police PRO, among others.
