A Former Governor of Imo State, Chief Rochas Okorocha has advised his party, the All Progressives Congress to pick its next Presidential Candidate from the south and resist the temptation of leaving the ticket in the North.

Chief Okorocha who stated this at an interactive session with the Nigeria Union of Journalists FCT Council, as part of activities lined up for his 59th birthday anniversary argued that any decision to break the cycle of rotation and retaining power in the North for another 8 years after President Muhammadu Buhari could create serious crisis within the party.

The former governor who currently serves as Senator representing Imo West added that it would only be fair for the rest of the country to consider ceding the position to the Southeast in 2023.

The federal lawmaker attributed the trouble with Nigeria to the absence of what he called a National Spirit of patriotism, nationalism, brotherliness and honesty without which he said the nation could not achieve any meaningful progress.

the Philanthropist however prayed for a glorious future for Nigeria to be a country where peace and tranquility would reign as against being a terrorized nation.

He advocated a reduced number of legislators to cut the cost of governance.

The Highpoint of the event was the presentation of icon of humanitarianism award to Senator Okorocha by the NUJ for his contributions to the development of the Nigerian child through his educational foundation.
