Police rescue abducted PDP House of Assembly candidate in Katsina

Katsina State Police Command has rescued the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Tafashiya from his abductors.

Ibrahim Tafashiya was abducted by terrorists in Kankia Local Government Area on Saturday, September 3.

The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, who confirmed the rescue said that the command swung into action immediately it got a distress call.

According to him, the Divisional Police Officer of Kankia, Superintendent Ilyasu Ibrahim, led his men, blocked the terrorists and engaged them in gun duel leading to the rescue of the victim.

Similarly, the police said it has rescued the registrar of Isa Kaita College of Education Salsu Gide from terrorists.

The PPRO said the terrorists attacked the residence of the Registrar within the metropolis and abducted him and his wife.

He said upon receipt of a distress call the police engaged the attackers and rescued the Registrar but that the terrorists succeeded in escaping with his wife.

The PPRO added that an operation is currently ongoing with a view to rescuing her and others in captivity as the terrorists, were said to have been sighted somewhere in Batsari Local Government Area axis.

Also, terrorists in the early hours of Sunday at about 5:17 am at Sabuwar Kwata in Jibiya Local Government Area reportedly abducted three persons among them two children.
