Harvest of Honours as Dangote Group Bags Awards from NECA

It was double honours for the Pan-African conglomerate, Dangote Group as it bagged ‘Consistent Corporate Performance In Employment Generation’ and Employer of the Year Awards from the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA).

Specifically, while the Group was recognized for its consistent corporate performance, its subsidiary – Dangote Fertiliser Limited was honoured for its contributions to job creation in the Chemical and Allied Product Sector.

Speaking at the NECA Excellence Award ceremony, which took place at the weekend in Lagos, Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, represented by the State’s Commissioner of Finance, Dr. Rabiu Onaolapo Olowo, acknowledged the role of NECA in the nation’s economic development.

Sanwolu said that the award was in recognition of companies who supported sustainable development in Lagos State and the nation in general.

Speaking also at the event, the Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, acknowledged the importance of labour in building the economy that has been ravaged by COVID 19, and the government is pleased to be associated with NECA.

The Group Executive Director, Strategy, Portfolio Development & Capital Projects, DVG Edwin, who received the award on behalf of Dangote Group, described NECA as dispassionate organization.

He said: “As employers of labour, “our association with NECA has been a rewarding one. These awards recognizing the efforts that the Dangote Group has made in contributing her quota to the Nigerian economy spurs us on to do even more.”

Some other winners in other categories include Food, Beverages and Tobacco, British Amercian Tobacco; Prevention and Elimination of Child Labour in the country, Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company; Road Transportation sector, ABC Transport; Banking and other financial institutions, City Trust Holding Limited; Agro & Agro Allied Services, TGI Group, and Telecom Infrastructure Provider, Tech Specialists.

The Dangote Group, belonging to a leading global philanthropist, Aliko Dangote has a presence in 10 African countries, providing employment for tens of thousands of young Nigerians and Africans.

The Group’s effort in addressing Africa’s agricultural and energy crisis include the bold step of constructing the second largest fertilizer complex in the world, a 1,100km sub-sea gas pipeline, and the ambitious multibillion dollar 650,000 barrel per day refinery were responsible for the Dangote Group clinching these awards.
