The Kogi state chapter of the Social Democratic Party SDP has called on Nigerians to press for the electoral amendment to enhance credible electoral process in the country.
The state chairman of the party, Alh Mouktar Atimah gave the charge while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja on the 22 years of unbroken democracy in the country.
He said SDP as a party was a beneficiary of that process of free and fair election being the winner of 1993 general election adjudged as the freest election in the political history of the country.
There is the need for us to imbibe that system if we are to remain as one indivisible entity.
Alh. Atimah said political violence in the state and the country in general have hindered the participation of people in politics due to the do or die attitude of the government in power.
He said It is on record that the SDP has been the most victimized since the political development of the country.
He said SDP is ready to take over Kogi state in the next election if only the electoral process is credible.
Atimah congratulated the people of the state on the occasion of the democracy day and urged them to continue to identify with SDP for the overall development of Nigeria
