NUJ sets up 9-man constitution review committee

The National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Chris Isiguzo has announced the setting up of committee to review its constitution.

A statement by the National Secretary, Shuaibu Leman made available to newsmen on Monday, said the National Treasurer, Dele Atumbi will serve as chairman while the chairnan of Kogi Council will serve as secretary.

The committee will study the present constitution to ascertain areas/sections that require amendment as well as collate submissions from state councils/stakeholders on areas/sections for amendment.

“In line with the campaign promise of the President, Comrade Chris Isiguzo to review the Union’s constitution, the National Secretariat has approved the appointment of the following as Members of the Constitution Review Committee.

“The terms of reference of the Committee are:

“To study carefully the present constitution to ascertain areas/sections that require amendment.

“Request and collate submissions from state councils/stakeholders on areas/sections for amendment.

“Compile a comprehensive proposal for amendment

“Submit a clean draft of the proposal to the National Secretariat. The draft will be used as working document at the Constitution Review Conference.

“The Committee has 3 months to submit its report,” the statement reads.
