…says his decision a total resolve of his people

It was indeed a bumper harvest for APC as Haruna Ganaja, a prominent politician from Ajaokuta local government area of Kogi State led his supporters to defect to the All Progressives Congress in support of Ododo Ahmed Usman, ahead of the November 11 gubernatorial election.

Haruna Ganaja, as he’s popularly known has consistently delivered Geregu ward 14 to the PDP in past elections.

Governor Bello welcomed Haruna’s defection to the APC, describing it as a positive step that will strengthen the APC’s presence in both Ajaokuta and Lokoja local government areas.

He praised Haruna’s political successes and emphasized the benefits of aligning with the APC’s agenda under his New Direction Administration.

Haruna Ganaja who was accompanied by former PDP Executives from Geregu ward commended Governor Bello’s achievements, including the proposed Ganaja flyover infrastructure, and attributed his decision to join the APC to Governor Bello’s accomplishments over the last seven year.

He also said the competence of the APC gubernatorial candidate, Hon Ododo Ahmed Usman, for the upcoming election was also one of the reasons for his defection

Haruna promised full support for both Governor Bello and the candidature of Ododo, to ensure victory for the party in the November 11 election.

In addition, he commended Governor Bello’s efforts in prompting the Federal Government’s consideration to rejuvenate the Ajaokuta Steel Company, believing that the obstacles inhibiting the completion of the steel project will be addressed by the  administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his ‘Renewed Hope’ Agenda

Haruna also lauded the state government’s decision to challenge in court the concession decision of the Steel company by the immediate past administration, noting that  Governor Bello’s action was borne out of his unwavering commitment to ensure the welfare and wellbeing of the people of Kogi State.

It will be recalled that On April 29, 2023, Kogi State government secured a restraining order from the High court against the Federal Government planned concession of the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited and the National Iron Ore Mining Company at Itakpe.

Haruna praised the governor’s leadership for defending the interests of the people and their resources.

Haruna and his delegation were received in Government House, Lokoja by the Governor accompanied by the APC gubernatorial candidate, Ododo Ahmed Usman, state’s party chairman, Abdullahi Bello, member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, Hon Sani Egidi, member representing Ajaokuta state constituency Hon Jibrin Abu and commissioner for Solid Minerals, Hon Bashir Gegu.
