The Kogi state Police Command has warned those taking the law into their hands over
alleged disappearance of male organs in the state to desist henceforth.
In a statement by SP William Ovye Aya, Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), of the command, also cautioned citizens to desist from giving out false alarm.
According to the commissioner, some of the allegations have been investigated by the Police and Medical examination were equally carried out, which he said turned out to be false.
The commissioner therefore warned that anybody caught disturbing the public peace would be prosecuted, in accordance with the law.
THE STATEMENT IN FULL
The Commissioner of Police Kogi State Police Command, CP Bethrand C. Onuoha, psc (+), calls on the residents of Lokoja and its environs to desist from peddling fake and false information on the disappearance of Male Organs that is currently trending in Lokoja.
He further stated that, some of the allegations have been investigated by the Police and Medical examination were equally carried which turned out to be false.
The false information is the sole aim of inciting public disturbance, creating fear and disrupting the peaceful environment the State is currently enjoying.
The Police is planning sterner measures to curtain false report in the State. As anyone caught giving false information will be prosecuted according to the law.
Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police sternly warn members of the public to desist from taking law into their hands by carrying out jungle justice, noting that, the Command have deployed its Security assets to detect individuals behind peddling rumour that has so far led to the attacks on innocent citizens. Therefore anybody caught taking law into his hand will be prosecuted according to the law.
To this end, the Commissioner of Police enjoins the good people of Kogi State to remain security conscious and report anything that looks suspicious in their areas to the Police.
