Ahead of Kogi State Governorship election, Kogi Central Council of Elders has appealed to all participating political parties and the candidates to carry out their electioneering campaign peacefully devoid of violence in the interest of the State.

The appeal was contained in a statement issued by the Council at the end of their meeting held in Okene and signed by Adai Steven Jimoh Yakubu the Chairman of the Elders.

According to the statement, the Council advocated for best practices in the areas of peaceful electioneering campaign and  voting exercise.

The Council of Elders charged every voting age Anebira to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to enable them cast their votes rather than sitting at home on the voting day.

The statement while praising Ebira youths for conducting themselves peacefully during the ongoing electioneering process, the Council urged them to continue in such manner during and after the forthcoming governorship election.

“On our part the Council urges our traditional rulers, community leaders and Onobas to continue to ensure strict vigilance on peace and security in central senatorial district of Kogi state” the statement said.

The statement also commended and appreciated the effort of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Ebira Peoples Association, Organizations and well meaning individuals in calming nerves and preaching peace and politics devoid of violence in Ebira community.
