INEC presents certificate of return to Kogi Gov-Elect, describes election as free, fair, credible

The INEC National Commissioner in charge of Kogi, Kwara and Niger states, Professor Sani Mohammed Adam has said that the just concluded Governoship election in Kogi state is free, fair, credible and verifiable.

Professor Sani Adam was speaking on Friday in Lokoja at the presentation of certificate of return to the Governor-Elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo and his Deputy -elect,Joel Salifu Oyibo at the INEC state head office, Lokoja.

Professor Adam said there were enough evidences to make the conclusion that the Election was not only free, fair and credible but even verifiable by all.

Also corroborating the position of the National Commissioner, the Kogi state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Gabriel Longpet said there was no doubt about the credibility of the election, adding that “declaring Ododo and Oyibo the Governor-Elect and Deputy elect respectively was the best thing to do”

He called on all other contestants to exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship and join hands with the Governor-Elect and Deputy Governor-Elect to enable the people reap the dividends of democracy

Speaking shortly after receiving the Certificate of Return, the Governor-Elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo said he will not disappoint Kogites who reposed tremendous confidence in him by voting massively for him.

He expressed appreciation to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his vice for creating enabling environment for the election  adding that the outcome reflect the wishes of the people.

He vowed to continue with the legacy of the incumbent, Alhaji Yayaha Bello and even improve on his numerous achievements across the state.

Also speaking at the occasion,the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello said “The journey of 8 years has come to an end, I want to appreciate every Kogite that has stood by us in this journey.

“I also want to appreciate the president and vice for creating enabling environment for peaceful,free,fair and credible Election devoid of any crisis”

“I urge you all to join hands with his Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo and his Deputy to move the state forward. The governor said.
