Defecting to APC will be a betrayal of trust — Hon. Shaba

The remember representing Lokoja, Kogi Federal Constituency, Barrister Shaba Ibrahim has said that he will never decamp from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressive Congress, (APC).

Addressing newsmen at the Nigeria Union Journalist Press Centre in Lokoja, on Saturday, to mark his two years of stewardship, Barrister Shaba said such decision would not only be suicidal but a betrayal of the confidence reposed in him by the electorates.

The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) federal lawmaker noted that he came under attack from the public and members of his party for visiting Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State soon after assuming office.

According to him, his visit to Governor Bello was misconstrued by many individuals in the state, especially some members of his party adding that, it has nothing with politics but the growing insecurity in his constituency.

He said the visit to the Governor yielded positive result as some vehicles were distributed to security agencies to fight insecurity in his constituency.

Speaking on the recently passed Electoral Bill, the lawmaker expressed the optimism that the democratic credentials of President Muhammad Buhari would make him assent to the bill

He however added that that should the president withhold assent, he would work with like minds in the National Assembly to override the president’s assent.

Barrister Shaba who enumerated various interventions and achievements he recorded in his second year in office, promised to do more in the years ahead.
