Worried about the challenges of removing illegal structures and putting a stop to all forms of illegal developments within the nation’s capital, the FCT ministers Mallam Muhammed Musa Bello and his counterpart, Dr. Ramatu Tijanni Aliyu have cautioned traditional rulers, chiefs and district heads within the nations capital to desist from illegal allocation of lands to unsuspecting individuals as anyone caught doing so will face the full wrath of the law.

The Secretary Area Council Services Secretariat, Alhaji Ibrahim Dantsoho reiterated the position of the administration when he paid a courtesy visit on the palace of the paramount ruler of Karu (Sakaruyi of Karu) Emmanuel Kyauta Yepwi

Dantsoho said it is becoming worrisome some of the roles royal fathers play in the deliberate distortion of the Abuja Master Plan which has led to illegal development of settlements that are alien to the mater plan.

” Your Royal Highness, as I was planning to embark on this tour, the honourable Minister Mallam Mohamed Musa Bello and her Excellency Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliu asked me to convey this message to all traditional rulers within the FCT so that they can in turn inform their chiefs, village heads and district heads that anyone still in the habit of allocating plots of land to individuals should desist from such act or be ready to have the full wrath of the law.

” It is only the FCT Minister that can allocate land in the Federal Capital Territory and that is a role he performs on behalf of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who happens to be the Governor-General of the FCT”

Speaking on security, Alhaji Dantsoho also used the medium to convey the position of the FCT Administration to the Royal Fathers, urging them to do everything possible to make sure there is no breakdown of law and order during the forth coming Area Council elections in the six area councils making the FCT.

He charged the royal fathers to desist from making political statements and openly supporting one candidate against the other in order not to cause troubles before, during, and after the election.

” You Highness, the Ministers of the FCT urged me to let you know that in your chiefdoms, the government will not tolerate the break down of law and order as a result of this election in your area, they said what expected of you and your kinsmen is to preach the gospel of peace. When they come to seek for your Royal Blessing there is a need for you to caution them”

“You are a father to everyone, give your blessings to candidate that comes to the Palace and also make them to understand that elections will come and go but our brotherhood will remain.”

The visit to the palace of the Sakaruyi of Karu was part of activities of the Familiarisation Tour of Abuja Municipal Area Council embarked upon by the secretary designed to serve as an on-the-spot assessment of Area councils and also a feedback mechanism for the FCT administration.
